Im going with a stradic 3000, the 4000 is too bulky IMO, 250 yards of 30# braid and over 9 oz!

The Saros 3000f has been marked down at Academy to $49. I decided to return the Stradic.

The Saros is not as nice as the Stradic but better than the Symetres that I have been using. $179 vs. $49 and the Saros comes with a spare spool didn't take long to make that decision.

FWIW- Academy had the Symetres on sale last week for $50, Sahara 4000's for $40 and Sahara 500's for $30. Boxes behind the counter weren't marked, but, they scanned at the sale price.

I have 16. That does not mean I carry sixteen. I want my clients to fully enjoy the experience. I also replace the bearings and they stay smooth year after year.

My Stradic 2500 in the shop for three weeks and holding. Shop has no idea when parts will be in. It's a Ci4 model.

I don't claim to be an expert and can't honestly say I have used any expensive reels before

that being said...I have had my 2 shimano sedona 4000s for almost 4 years now.....had 2 of the same for 3 years prior to that but they got stolen

didn't have any problems with any of the reels....and still don't

I'm not saying the more expensive reel isn't better....but your not really going wrong if you get any of the mid-grade shimanos IMHO (well mid grade for my price range :)

but hey maybe ignorance is bliss

Typically, reels are subject to more exposure to salt water in a kayak or wade fishing. So, its pick your poison. I am still going with the Stradic, just have to do more cleaning than before.

Several years ago Birdsnest posted up that Sportstown had a top shelf eggbeater on sale with rod for $50.

Felt guilty even buying one. That said, should've bought 2 or three.

It was a crappy rod but had attached to it a Shimano Stradic 2000 FG.

I still enjoy using that reel.
