Re: Solo Skiff Yak
I like it! Sure can get somewhere quick and looks like it has as good of a draft as a Kayak. 3" Draft with a 230# person.

Re: Solo Skiff Yak
That is a sweet set up. Best of both worlds. If they catch on, I could see lots of modifications coming.

Re: Solo Skiff Yak
Since I started kayak fishing, I have doodled with designs. I have even, thought of converting my sunfish into a skiff. I have not done yet. This design gets so close to some of my ideas.
My question: will this skiff work for strictly paddling?

This has peaked my interest however I'm am a little surprised by the 375lb capacity. I weigh 225 so when you factor in a motor there's very little room left. I would like to see the electric version and a price tag. My main interest is trolling lures 1 to 2 miles offshore.

Re: Solo Skiff Yak
SKIFFGUY, I'm intrigued. How does it hold up to oysters, and is there a Texas dealer who can show / demo one?

Dog gone it! That could cut out about 8 or 9 mile paddle from my usual trip, with the possibility of covering more territory. I could be possibly interested...........cC

I believe the Honda 2hp is the motor they show with it. This little motor weighs 27lbs when full of gas. I have one for my canoe and carry a 32oz Gatorade bottle with gas ( which is twice as large as the factory tank) at about 4-6 mph with a 2 man hunting load(500lbs).
Re: Solo Skiff Yak
They can be equipted with a sail and wheels for launching. This is my 2nd one and are a great fishin machine.. Cheers
Re: Solo Skiff Yak
So does the solo skiff come with a trailer or do you just toss it in back of ur truck?
Re: Solo Skiff Yak
Over $2000 without the motor or trailer.
Re: Solo Skiff Yak
The capacity is stated for the fact we have to draw a line somewhere if you watch the videos closely showing two people it is obvious it has plenty of capacity for a big guy the boat had 350 pounds of people and the outboard... a lot of thought went into it.....
Re: Solo Skiff Yak
The solo skiff can be paddled for sure. I got in a hurry the other day and forgot to fill tje tank with gas and ran out a long way from the ramp so I paddled and poled back.... its a power boat first thoud hence the design but yes you can.
Re: Solo Skiff Yak
I just saw the oyster question sorry
The Skiff holds up fine... just like any other boat though or kayak they all will scratch if you hit them hard

Less money than a Hobie PA. Hope they can set up a Tx. dealer in the future.freespool wrote:Over $2000 without the motor or trailer.

Re: Solo Skiff Yak
You can buy a gheenoe for $1k new and put an outboard on it. U can take a friend on the gheenoe and it's faster than the solo skiff.

Re: Solo Skiff Yak
where'd you find a Gheenoe for a $1K?
Re: Solo Skiff Yak
Where can you buy Gheenoe for 1k? I will buy one right now!
Re: Solo Skiff Yak
Yes we will be doing shows in Texas this winter. I have also been in contact with people in Texas that are getting Solo Skiffs so all you guys out there can see =)
Re: Solo Skiff Yak
You can buy a brand new gheenoe 15'4" highsider at any gheenoe dealer for $1,080. U will need to buy an outboard for the gheenoe just like u would need to buy an outboard for the soloskiff. U can cartop or put Tue gheenoe in the back of a pick up. It's only 120lbs and the weight capacity is 675lbs. U can easily fish two people on it. It drafts in 3-5" of water fully loaded.txspeck wrote:Where can you buy Gheenoe for 1k? I will buy one right now!
This is why I went with a gheenoe. I bought mine from pack and paddle in Lafayette, la. My parents live in Lafayette. So I go back to visit them often. I pick my gheenoe up Sept 22. Will have a 9.9 Yamaha two stoke on my gheenoe. When I get it, if anyone is interested in looking at it, pm me.
