Post by Strider »

My buddy Sean and I hit the Brazos today. Fish catch was not too good but much fun was had :D

Big drum, first cast

Super rare summer blue

My island base - the river rose rapidly today

Seans white bass was attacked by a big longnose on the way in. Look at the bite marks!

I got that sucker :). He will be lunch tomorrow.

Sean on the way back. The Native is the best plastic riverboat IMO

Me on the way back in the Conquista.

Enjoying a couple of cold Coronas at the takeout :D

Though we had a great time we both agreed that winter fishing is much better.

Man, are they fast, and super-wary when the water is as clear as it is now. They are not easy to catch for sure. I was up there one day and exhausted myself throwing my net and could not catch a one.

Great report Kim. We are back to the Yo-Yoing water levels again. I think it really screws the fishing up when we are in this Summer patter of fluctuating levels.

Darrell, you are right. We even had a hard time getting minnows with a 15' seine yesterday. Too much water. With lake levels still healthy we can probably look forward to the same for a while. You guys have the right idea with the overnighters and alligator gar fishing. Catfishing has been pretty dismal lately.
