Hey Corpus folks. Has anyone fished the shallows along side Rincon Channel next to HWY 35 just before the causeway going to Portland? I'm planning a trip to CC in a couple of weeks and noticed this area on Google.
I grew up in west CC and fished Neuces bay through the 60's and still have family there. I come down quite often and want to start fishing the area again. I also want to try Porno flats, Packery Flats and Shamrock area. Although vehicle breakins at Shamrock does concern me.
Any info would be very much appreciated.

Re: Rincon Channel
The area of flats along the Rincon channel have never been productive for me. The tides usually run a bit too low there for fish to really set up there. However, there is a small (40ft) shell reef that seperates that flat from the channel which tends to hold trout on its channel side. Also, there are 4 houses that turn on there green lights at night in the channel itself. Those lights can be very productive at night. Porno flats really hasnt turned on yet as of 2 weeks ago, I think mostly because the water has been chocolate milk preventing the grass from starting tyo grow. It will turn on when the water clears up a bit and allows the grass to get going. Don't get me wrong, there are still some fish there but imo you will find more productive water elsewhere. Despite my username, I am no nb expert but I do fish it a bunch.

Thanks Neuces. I'll watch the forum before I go and see if conditions change.

Re: Rincon Channel
Porno flats have had some reds on it but this is my first go around for the summer months here. I have seen some nice sized trout slicks on that area, so there is fish there they just need to bite. One thing to keep in mind the Texas Parks and Wildlife survey crews did say they had reports of two very large bull sharks in Nueces Bay. Take it for what its worth but those sharks got to eat something right
Good luck

The fish are there. They'll take a bait sooner or later.Big Kahuna wrote:Porno flats have had some reds on it but this is my first go around for the summer months here.
