Installed my Fishfinder today

Post by Flyfisher87 »

Today was a good day. I finally found a wire seal that will work for the plugs. This was fairly simple to instal proabably 30 to an hour at most. Here are some pictures.

@ Coosadude. What i did was go through google and youtube there are a lot of different ways to install a fishfinder and i did was was easiest for me. I had an extra scotty mount so I bought the hummingbird mount that scotty make. Then I went to Kayakinggear.com and bought my wireseal. (I tried amazon but it was the wrong size). I used stainless steel nuts, bolts and washers for the scotty mount at a local hardware store. I then used marine goop to glue down the transducer. I tried Gorrilla Glue on the box to glue it in place didnt work to well so im trying marrine good on the box right now.

I know on the tarpon series kayak there are designed places to set a scotty mount. So it was easy for me to place it. you might want to sit in your kayak and find out what place would be best to place the mount. Mark the holes with a pen or marker then drill them. Set the holder in place then behind it a few inches put your wire seal. then set your transducer as far forward as possilbe on flat service. Glue it in with marine goop. find the best place to put your battery box (make sure its waterproof.) You will have to drill a hole in the box for your power cords make sure you silicon the hole.

I just realized I forgot to tell about the battery. It's a 12volt deer feeder battery.

That's awesome! Put it in down below the park dam so you can see those giant catfish the size of Volkswagons.
