There is ALOT of post about this,I made a couple home made ones,but once u buy a stake out stick u notice it beats the hell out of pvc and broom handles.

The Hobie stake out pole is 5 ft long, great handle grip, and a metal tip for piercing the in ground and pushing off oyster beds.

I agree, floating stakeout is worth every penny. I got my 6 ft floating stakeout from Austin Canoe and Kayak. With the TKF discount you can't go wrong. Tight Lines.

I bought a stake out stick, from my personal experience and the places I usually fish, 75% of the time it was quicker and easier to drop an anchor. There have been quite a few times where I thought a quick shove into the ground, only to hit something hard and feel the shock go up my arm very uncomfortable. It's kind of a reflex action, if you get shocked enough you kind of try to avoid doing the same thing that's shocking you.

Some current would be too quick to have time to force the stick into the ground securely. I would have to leverage the stick with my full body weight to get it into ground. Kind of situational, depending on the places you fish, it might be the best thing on the planet compared to anchor, in some it may be more of a hassle.

Won't really know for sure till you buy one.
