Fall is coming!

Post by davewave12 »

Man I LOVE this time of year! The kids go back to school. The surf get good as the tropical season kicks into high gear. The fishing picks up, first the trout in the surf on those calm glassy days, then the Redfish run and finally the flounder in November.

Dove season is right around the corner and with it comes filling the feeders and scouting the lease. Getting out the bow and tuning it up for October, the anticipation of opening day of rifle season. The first cool fronts trying press on down to the coast. It's just a great time of year to be outdoors in Texas!!

And a little cold front is coming too. Sunday morning will be around 73 degrees and Monday morning it will drop to 70 degrees!

I agree, the kids start back to school on 08/24/09. Wife wants to go on one last road trip before school so we are headed to Rockport as soon as we get off from work today. Can't wait for a little north breeze and cooler tempt Sunday morning.
I did go and pick up my new tags and Public Hunt permit yesterday. Going to scout out the Public hunt area for Doves near TIVOLI this weekend.

I don't know how folks handle the heat around here.

This has been a brutal summer heat wise. After July, I basically stayed inside for the entire month of August.

For me, the month of October is my favorite month for the entire year. Cool fronts come and go. Fishing is still good, wingshooting for doves, bowhunting for deer and squirrel hunting top my things I do outdoor wise in October.

It's been 65 the last several mornings in the Sabinal Valley, 70 up here on the hill. We have our own mini climate up here.
Sure has been nice to away from the 100's we have been getting..

Acorns are starting to fall, bucks are still in velvet.

This was taken last night.

Nice bucks. :D I especially like the one on the far right. Good thing he's in Utopia. If I met up with him around my bowhunting haunts, he might not make it past October.
