EASTER WEEKEND TURKEY AND HOG HUNT

Post by PawPaw »

Here are a few pic.s from last weekend. We arrived after dark so we went out to set hog traps and pick up camera's to see whats around. The 3rd trap we came to that is set at a feeder there was piggy #1 that feel to my sons 270 at 100yards off hand shot to the neck 180lb.s boar back strap sure tasted good sat.Already had a good hunt and just got there. Sat. morn. was feeling a little ruff from lasdt nights celebrating. Got up to make sure the boy got upand figured what the hey , not much going on for the morning a few hens no tom's.So back to camp for chores and breakfast. While in camp a bunch of jakes come walking down the road with in 30 yards of camp so we got a jake. That evening we both went out to hunt and dropped 2 more toms. A hell of weekend!

Congrats, looks like a great hunt! What area are you in? Looks like hill country. We killed some nice Toms Easter weekend too, and got some much needed rain. Good luck on the fishing.

Nice Turkeys an Hogs, I hunt in Comanche about 20 miles southesat of Cross plains, strange thing is even though there are lots of Hogs in all directions from our lease, we haven't had a hog killed in over 20 years, this past November we did see some hog signs, (muddy wallows and a little hair on a nearby fence wire).

Looking forward to going turkey hunting on the 24-27.

We have been on this lease for ten years and the first 5 year no hogs sighted a little sign and then boom we started seeing them and now we kill them on sight. Not totally covered with them but they can have 3 litters a year and expand quickly. We also had hogs all around our place and none on our place as you did but our place has alot of rock and very little water.
