Bolivar Peninsula especially High Island was the BTB'ers second home. As most of you already know, we fish there almost everywkd. I had the opportunity to meet a bunch of fine Bolivar residents throughout the years. Prayers sent for all that were affected by Ike. My heart just hurts too much right now.

The Bolivar lighthouse survived two major hurricanes, Issac (1900) and Ike (2008).

Those pics are eerily similar to the pics of Holly Beach here in Louisiana after Rita passed through 3 years agao, especially the pics where pretty much all you see is whats left of the pilings to camps and homes. Horrible stuff. My prayers goes out to everyone affected by the storm.

A friend of mine had a cousin ride out Ike at his house in Crystal Beach. He was confirmed dead this morning.

Amazing survival story here.

My Lord ... I've seen several other pictures and videos from Bolivar, but none as recent after Ike as these. We spent many years fishing from those beaches down past High Island. But that last picture of the lighthouse really helps visualize what the surge must have been like. It breaks my heart for all the folks affected there. I wonder how much longer all of Bolivar can stay above water. At least the lighthouse survives for now.
Thanks for the pics.

Bob

God Bless Everyone down on the Coast. That Lighthouse was built in 1872 and has made it thru many major hurricanes. 1900, 1915, carla, alicia, and IKE. I pray for y'all everynight. God Bless Ya.

Here is a link to over 300 aerial photos taken on a flight from Rockport to Crystal Beach by someone at Texas Coast Geology.

I talked to Richard Watson Ph.D in Port Aransas. He is the one who took the pictures for Texas Geological; and found out that the first 6 photos was at Mitchells Cut. Also on his site there ara an additional 4000 more photos. Just info if wanted..

According to what I've seen, heard, and been messaged by relatives, friends, etc. from the east coastal area damage outside the major cities was extensive. I was born in Liberty but not raised there. All of my relations there are long gone. Is the casulty rate much higher than anyone is letting on? Just a general question.
