Sea Rim Redfish
Sea Rim Redfish
Met up with Gone Yakin at Sea Rim this afternoon. Water was flat. No real surf to speak of. Got poles set up and yakked out all the baits. It wasn't long and one of the reels was screaming. Nice fish Gone Yakin. Yakked bait back out and the wait was on. Another rod took a good bump, but when setting hook, the fish must have had other plans. Back to waiting. It wasn't long and reel was screaming again. This time Trailshoe brought one in. In all two fishermen and two fish. Not bad.

Loaded all of the gear and headed to class this morning. Pulled my hair out listening to the professor and when he finally let us go I hit the door. Made a mad dash for the beach and hit the sand about 1:45.
Started unpacking my crap about the time Trailshoe showed up with his FnD. Thought I would try a castnet and quickly picked up a large mullet in the chocolate milk surf. After a quick check from the game warden to make sure we had a PFD, Trailshoe started yaking out baits. I had my 4/0 and my Jigmaster out and TS had 2 rods as well.
Messed around for a while and finally decided I would try and take a leak behind my jeep. I finally got the neoprene waders down and unbuttoned my pants when the Jigmaster goes off. I'm glad no one could see me because I must have looked like an idiot running across the beach trying to hold my pants and waders up.
Finally got situated and reeled in a smaller 37-8 inch red. Still had bait so TS yaked it back out and came back to hang out. About 30 minutes later I just happen to be watching the 4/0 when I see the rod bounce. Went over to take up some slack and it takes off. Clear the rod holder and hand the rod to TS only to loose the fish. Reel in to check and the mullet is still there, and still alive.
After re-deploying the 4/0 the Jigmaster goes off again, this time TS is hooked up and fights it to the beach. Another nice 36-7 inch red (same chunk of bait the other fish ate). Decide it's getting colder by the minute and dark so we start loading up. Once again the 4/0 bounces then starts singing. Tighten the drag and nothing is there. Check it and the mullet is STILL alive. Chunk him in the icechest for another time and hit the road home. Had a good time with good company. Big thanks to TS for all of the bait transport. Couldn't of done it without him.

Good Report
Wanted to go to High Island but didn't want to drive the 215 mile round trip. It's good to see those pictures, can't wait to get out there myself! Looks like you guys had a great day.
