Big freakin Red!
Big freakin Red!
Mrs. Five-0 and I hit the water at about 11:00 am this morning for a couple of hours of fishing. We saw a few other yakkers but didnt get close enough to talk to them. The morning started off kinda slow with several small trout for both of us. We havent fished this area much this year but I had reports of good trout and lots of them in the area. The good trout just wasnt there and the bite was very finicky. Beckie paddled off to fish some structure and I made a move to a little shallower water due to the sun warming the water. I quickly picked up some very small trout and was about to move again when all heck broke loose. I had just released a 12" trout and cast back to the same spot in about 3' of water. I twitched the lure and got slammed. I set the hook and the fish came to the top of the water just like a trout. It threw water everywhere and my heart just about jumped out of my chest. I just knew this was my trophy trout. Head shake and fast runs. I was shaking like a virgin on prom night. I was positive I saw a trout on the end of the line. I yell at Beckie to come over and get the camera. I was making sure not to horse the monster fish. After about 10 minutes I was pretty sure it wasnt my trophy trout after all so my nerves calmed. This fish pulled like I had hooked a greyhound bus. Beckie started shooting pics and got some great shots I will post later. When I finally land the beast it measured about 39" without the tail pinched. A huge beautiful bull red. I caught it on a pearl/chart Brown Lures prototype that I have been testing for awhile with great success. We took more pics and I took about 10 minutes to make sure it was good and strong and would survive the release. There was no way I was going to kill such a strong fishting fish. While removing the hook we discovered a very fresh hook in the fishes throat that he had obviously broke someone off. It looked to be off of a bait chunkers line. It was an awesome fish except for the first part when I was nervous as a schoolgirl cuz I thought it was my trophy trout. We have pics of the trout we caught but Im not posting those small dinks compared to this beast. I will post pics as soon as they finish uploading to photobucket.

If it is possible, could you post a picture of this lure?

Pictures without frames
Chaz,
You get pictures like that by posting pictures on a internet photo storage site. i.e. Photobucket, Shutterfly, etc. and then linking them to your post.
When you upload your pics to the service they need to be a maximum of 640 pixels wide. If they are wider than that, you create the Neelix effect (definition: very annoying) where you have to scoll back and forth to read the text in same post. There are several posts in forum offering advice on free resizing programs. Other options include Adobe PhotoShop, Corel Draw etc. One thing to remember about using an internet service for storage. If you decide to remove older pictures from your account (internet photo service) you break the link (definition: closing the worm hole) to TKF. Hope this helps.
