Matagorda- December 8th

My dad and I finally made it down to Matagorda and got to do some real cold weather fishing. I like the cold because catching fish makes you warmer so you're even more motivated. We're having the family Christmas get together Sunday and we said if we caught some good fish we'd have a fish fry. The fish fry is on. Fish were caught on everything from live shrimp, soft plastics, spoons, and crankbaits. Basically they were hitting whatever moved. Lots of throw backs but we finally worked up two limits. All fish were 15"-20", perfect for frying size. and we didn't have one fish get gut hooked. There were also a few rat reds mixed in. All in all a good day, no mythic 30" spotted monsters of the deep showed their fins, but a fisherman with a large group to feed can't be picky.
