Nice. Love the birds. American Oystercatchers are a favorite of mine. The Tricolor Heron isn’t too shabby either. Nice trout, too.

Very cool trout pic and also that red billed Bird is awesome.

You gotta show us your camera setup! How do you keep it handy to grab a shot so fast?

Like karstopo pointed out, that orange-billed bird is an Oystercatcher.
They use that stout, thin beak to pry open oysters and other mollusks.
Neat bird for sure!

Another great set of pics DelSol, thanks for sharing. You're getting me fired up to bring my camera out with me with these reports you keep posting.

Canon Powershot I keep in a dry bag on deck for the zoomed in shots.
Olympus Tough for the wide angle pics.
Any fish action pics are just a screen shot from a gopro.

Ahh ok. makes sense.

I have my Olympus in it's zipper bag, but I don't have anywhere good to store while underway so I clip it to my seat and zip it up so it doesn't come lose while I'm not paying attention.

But unfortunately that zipper costs me every shot I want to take :(

Maybe I ought to try wearing it around my neck, but I hate to carry a camera that way - while on land anyway.

Del Sol, everybody is obsessing over your great camera shots, but I'm impressed whenever ANYBODY gets under working seagulls in a kayak to catch a near-quick limit of speckled trout!
Shoffer and I have been lucky enough to do it about twice a year, except this past year yielded very little bird action probably due to the Hurricane Harvey floods. The normal shrimp migration got wiped out. But we remember every dang kayak bird frenzy like you experienced & photographed.
Well-done, sir. Behold our last bird group...

Damn, Skippy, Captain. Usu. our bird days are in East Bay in November or early December. It is thrilling to get hit on every cast for thirty minutes at a time, and then chase the birds all morning for quick hookups.
