Christmas Bay on Sunday

Post by greg.lohse »

My GF and I launched from the county boat ramp/kayak put-in on the east end of Christmas Bay just before sunrise on this past Sunday morning. I have not fished at this location in about a year. The mosquitoes were pretty bad but the traffic at the ramp was light compared to what I have seen in the past. We spend about half a day fishing the grass beds along Churchill Bayou alternating between live shrimp and soft plastics. Between the two of us, we caught four trout, five reds, the largest of which was half an inch under size, and a flounder. Nothing was large enough to bring home but the fishing was pretty steady and the weather was nice.

I love Christmas Bay and Churchill Bayou this time of year, especially early November through December.
