Fishing For Monster Alligator Gar From A Kayak

For 4 years now i have been trying to land a 7 foot alligator gar from a kayak its an extremely difficult thing to do, or has proven to be in my case. Getting a good hookset and not getting towed through underwater trees being the main concerns, that and a jumping gar can, well you know jump in your lap!
Well i'm getting closer, 4 more inches and I would have my goal of a 7 foot Gar from the kayak. She gave an awe inspiring fight pushing my little yak to the limits. May be my biggest gar landed from the kayak to date.

props to ya shark. caught a 4fter yesterday and was my pb. there is a 6plus rolling by me on occasion. i enjoy getting my hook back from those toothy jaws.

not really, been waiting to get back offshore until i have the $$ to buy a revo or something similar. for the last few years i have been guiding for alligator gar here in Texas all catch and release. I'm at over 25 over 100 pounds for this year the largest going 8 foot 1 inch
