Galveston, West Bay 5/13/17

Post by Tx_Trout_Stud »

Headed out to Dalehite Cove Saturday morning at sun up with my brother and a friend. Launched with a couple other yakkers fishing the in Saltwater Survival series tournament. We ended up grinding it out till noon to find some biters. Caught a handful of 13"-14.5" trout early and regularly fishing 4" cocahoe minnows and live shrimp under a popping cork, landed a few juvenile black drum and a lot of hardheads. Brother ended up finding a hole and caught 2 keeper trout in the 18"-19.5" range. I was saved on our way in trolling a cocahoe "cock of the walk" and landed a 18.5" fish taco around 11:45am. Water temp was mid 70s, dirty green and the tide seemed to be late coming in due to the north wind. All in all, nice to get back on the water and get some slime back on the yak with some fishys. Tight lines everyone! [img]
