sunset trout 04/27/2017 quick trip

Post by F.O.C. »

Took a "newbie to lures" out for a few hours. Drifted in the canoe to a spot that is perfect for building confidence with lures. Immediately started catching poor mans tarpon. Once the acrobatic excitement wore off we started focusing on bringing something home for supper. We caught plenty of 13-15 inch specks, and 4 keepers. We both lost 2 big somethings and he also lost a nice red. The kind of red that makes the braid sing and turns the boat. Tossed 1/4 oz clear, white and red head, clear with red glitter DOA shrimps and 3 inch trout pattern Tsunami split tails. Power pro and 5 feet of vanish leader material.
It felt great to get back on the water and also teach a newbie the pop pop song.

Have a safe trip back to Dallas and enjoy your supper! 8)

Even though you did not mention what area you were in, your report is great! You give us all a great report on how you helped someone catch some nice fish. This not your typical " I'm patting myself on the back here" report but a "good deed done" report.
Well done Sir!
