Windy Sunday at GISP

Post by mwatson71 »

I have a friend who I have been trying to introduce to kayak fishing for some time now and our schedules never seem to work out. So when we finally got a date we could both go we jumped at the opportunity. Unfortunately, it turned out to be Sunday, and the forecast did not look good with the wind expected to be in the 20 mph range. He was determined so I told him we would go to GISP and stay in Lake Como hoping that it would be a little bit protected. As it turned out, even there the wind was blowing in the 15-20 mph range most of the morning. Nothing to be caught in the lake so we ventured out by the geotubes and beyond. Picked up one in the 16-17" range (had no intention of keeping so didn't measure) and one dinky sand trout. Both fish caught on a TTF swim shad speck rig.

Rough day on the water but it was good to be out paddling.
