Bass on fly 3-3-17

I got the itch to throw flies at bass, but my local river is muddied up from rains a couple of weeks ago. Time to hit the lake. Instead of my float tube, I loaded up my kayak.


Better to cover lots of water.

First catch was kept to release into the bin later.

That's more like it!

Here's where some of them live.

Spring is definitely here in Tejas.



And mad props to karma for the game warden parked in the lot seeing the boat full of 5 fat bozos cut me off at nearly full speed, on my way to the landing, and throwing a huge wake in the no-wake zone. Seeing the ticket book come out as I was losing up to go warmed the cockles of my heart!

I am glad too! All praise to chocolate covered goodness in a bag!
After catching lots of weeds and branches during my adventure, I realized I need to tie some weedless flies for next time. Hence:

I'm also wrapping some bunny strip monsters with mono weedguards. Next Saturday I'll let loose these lab experiments and see how the fish respond.
