Reds on the fly
Reds on the fly
Found some Redfish cruising up shallow on a mud flat at sun up. Some had there backs exposed, others were moving a little faster just under the surface. I threw a tiny shrimp pattern to mimic small shrimp, but had to put it on their nose due to low visibility in the water. About an hour later the fish sort of hunkered down as I would spook them. Was a lot of fun compared to last trip.
Re: Reds on the fly
Good report and those are some nice reds.
Re: Reds on the fly
Lots of little shrimp up here in bay and marsh. Is that a fly you cooked up yourself or one you picked up somewhere? You don't have a up close photo do you?
Re: Reds on the fly
Hope this helps, not much to it. Little bit of flashbou, some pink and white hair. I used to have some tied with small circle hooks, these did not catch as much grass. Would have landed two more Reds if the had the circle hooks.

Nice looking fish. I haven't done any fly fishing in a few years. I may have to pick up a fly combo for when the reds really start tailing on the flats in another month or so.

Good work Tombo. Nice to see you on the fly rod.
You back in that muddy place you took me? It seems the fishing is on if you can get a decent day here and there.
