Limit Of Specks In The Fog

Post by surfpunk »

I found speckled trout feeding from 2-10 ft of water. They started out thick in 2 feet of water over shell, then moved to deeper water, then back up shallow. A few casts is all it took to indicate where they moved. I drifted from deep water to shallow water until I got bites then I would anchor up and fan cast. My fishing partner and I picked up easy limits early. We continued catching fish until we left including several flounder. There were a bunch of pencil trout mixed in. I used H&H Cocahoe Minnows in Opening Night.

Right On Johnathan! You keep that up buddy and your gonna have to pay a membership fee :) ! If I had to pick one bait for clear winter water it would be that Opening Night Cocahoe, I think if I would had stayed with it las time I would have caught just as many...I just wanted to try that like green Down South. A regular fishing buddy of mine swears by the Lil TTF paddle tail in "liquid shrimp", he orders them. You liking that T16 the best of all the ones you went through?

Yeah Eric that lure is a no brainer in clear water. I'm hard headed and had to go through a bunch of kayaks to finally settle on my Tarpon 160. It is the best kayak for my needs. It's fast, has good legroom and storage, the air pro seat is raised off of the hard plastic and has a high rigid back. It's a perfect marsh boat for paddling long distances and cutting through the chop and wind, and works surprisingly well drifting shell for trout.
