Christmas Bay Action
Christmas Bay Action
Hi guys. Hit up Chrismas Bay with my buddy Ryan two weekends ago trying out the new Native Slayer Propel I purchased. The slop was pretty heavy early in the morning with the wind averaging about 15mph but the Slayer just ate it up and allowed me to hit every area I wanted to get to in Churchill Bayou. Using the Chicken Boys shrimp which seem to produce almost all of the saltwater strikes I get, I was able to land first a 21" trout and then in the same spot a 27"er. I also hauled in a 17" red and 13" flounder later in the afternoon. Ryan was able to pull in a nice 23" redfish on the trip as well to round out our catch.
Also tried my luck out at Bayou Vista last Saturday and learned an interesting lesson in the lights. When I first got out ~10pm, I could see predator fish in the lights slowly follow my lure but maybe giving it a nibble or just swimming off and I saw that same pattern in almost every light I attacked until around 11:30 when I caught my first red at ~18". From then on, every light I saw fish in led to a strike until around 12:30 when I decided to get off the water with 12 fish boated (though only kept 3 trout). I'm interested to know if it was just the tide starting to move more later or if it's a timing thing on green lights.

This has always been one of my favorite locations to fish. Good catch!

i've heard this place is usually slow during winter...

looks like a great day!

I love it! I feel like I catch twice the amount of fish because I can cover at least twice the amount of area as opposed to my Tarpon 120. I can also stand up in it easily, even with heavy winds/surf. The negatives are the turning radius (not a big deal) and the weight. I have a really difficult time lifting that guy up by myself.flykool25 wrote:How do you like your slayer propel .!
Totally worth the money I spent on it though!!!
