10 yr old catching a 31inch red. (Video)

Late report. It was a weekend, I was at home instead of work , my son was home and the weather was forecast to be good. Everything was aligned to go fishing. So on October 18th me and my 10 year old went to my honey hole near roll over pass. Usually I fish from my Malibu stealth 12 where he sits on the front hatch. But he is getting tall and we are cramped . So I decided he will be paddling his own kayak. this was his first time by himself on his own kayak, fishing. we were using dead mullet on a popping cork . on the water by 09:30am. paddled to my spot where I usually catch redfish fish all the time , usually minimum of four a day within the first two hrs. But this day (murphys law) we sat there five hours and all I caught was a catfish and a 16 inch flounder. My son caught nothing. So naturally he was getting pissed and told me this sucks. he wants to go home and play. So I told him we drove 120 miles just to get here , have some more patience , I have caught plenty of big reds here before , and that winter is coming and this might be his last chance this year to catch a fish. he kinda agreed. So we stayed and walla he catches his first big bull red. 31 inches . We almost lost the fish at one point where it had wrapped the line around my stringer with a flounder on the stringer.. I managed to get a video with my iphone. Its unedited and on youtube . I will try and paste a link here and hope this works. its my first time posting a video on here. Please watch the whole video to see his expression of happiness at the end. he ends up catching two more reds 25 inch and 22 inch after that and this turned out to be the best day of his life all of a sudden . Plus this turned out to be a 31 inch red so he beat my record from the bay by two inches. So all of a sudden he is a better fisherman than me. Anyway I was happy regardless. Patience paid off. We were off the water by 5:00 pm . enjoy.

I completely get it - and I would say he should brag about schooling you. If he catches more than you - he beat you. If he catches only one but it's bigger - he beat you. The world according to our boys. I hear it every trip.

I think we might have been the same 30-40 years ago.
