yak less this time out. Was in Galveston celebrating my BIL's Birthday. Had a window Monday morning for about 3 hours to fish with my other BIL. I thought without a kayak a good spot would be the flats behind SLP. WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!
Got to the water at about 5 am and started to catch bait but noticed there was a lot of rotting seaweed on the bottom.
Started our wade out with the plan to wade out to the first gut/channel out there and fish the dropoff. Well, we never made it. The seaweed was coming in thick through the channel and it was just everywhere. You couldn't soak a bait more than 10 seconds before the line was being pulled hard to the right.
Conditions:
Wind-Blowing pretty good from the S. About 20mph but the South shore over that way is sort of protected so it wasn't rough at all.
Water clarity- Very dirty close to the shore in the shallow water but once we got out to about waste deep it was fairly clear/green. At one point we could see our feet in about 2+ feet of water...
Bait- I caught mullet, piggy perch and croaker in the cast net. And also one random shrimp.
We literally couldn't get a bite...
The only thing that pulled our lines was the seaweed. And maybe a crab or two(hundred)!!!

That sucks. I'd take a good day of work over that

No sir. This was still better than working.
I got to watch a great sunrise and be out on the water. It did suck to not catch anything but it was better than working for sure...

NOTE: I saw 2 guys launching when we were leaving. Wondering how they did.
One was in a Pelican Castaway and the other was in a Native... If y'all see this, how'd it go?
