Decided to hit a different creek for a few hours today. Needless to say I think I need to go here more often not because I caught a bunch but the ones I did catch were bigger.

Nothing better than having a good creek to call your home waters. I've got a few around my house that I can always count on.

Wow, fly fishermen are rising up & asserting their long-rod power!
Watch out, all bait/spin-casters...
The FLY-PEOPLE have landed!
"Take me to your 'leader!'" (6-lb. tippet?)... God bless.

Nice. It's always cool to see catfish on the fly rod. A lot of folks don't realize that can be done, but Channel Cats in particular will readily take a fly when well presented.

Yes sir it's nice having so many creeks so close I've noticed some clear up faster than others depending on where it rains and if theyre all off color i just hit the lake. so just about always have a place to fish.
Dandy fly fishing to me is just so much more fun and I somewhat feel like its a better choice in the creeks. Light tackles still fun in saltwater and during the whitebass run if I'm trying to limit out, but catching em on the fly is so much more enjoyable. I believe I was using 8lb I don't like to go to light that way I can get my fly back out of a tree or off a log. Plus I've caught some 4lbers out there and they'll give you a run for your money.
I gotten a lot better at catching channel cats used to think it was impossible. but after fishing these creeks as much as I do I've somewhat got it down. Now I've caught em on streamers, wolly buggers, even poppers, and nymphs in the Guadalupe. Just keep your fly tight to structure and work the deep holes and youll usually find one. Havnt got one over 2 lbs yet though I'd like to get into a fight with a 5lber!

Thanks everyone tight fly lines :D

Ditto!! I was thinking settling for a stocked pond but if you share, I'd rather fish a creek. Keeping it real like, Dan. Abundant Blessings and tight fly lines.

Congrats on your success. Not to steal any of your thunder, the guys at Orvis can reset that reel so that you can retrieve the line with your right hand. Those fish probably did not require much drag, but there is a few out there that will, but I imagine reeling backwards can be a bit awkward. Jerry and Noble at the Woodlands Orvis can fix that. Or come see me down at the Houston Orvis and I can take care of that, replace the backing and re-spool it so that your set up is correct, at no charge.
