Fort Worth area kayak tourney?!?
TKF--
I'm thinking about trying to organize a regular kayak bass tourney on area lakes around FW -- Lake Worth, Eagle Mountain, etc, mostly on lakes within an hours drive of Fort Worth.
I'm thinking a 4 or 5 hour catch-picture-release on Saturday mornings for $20 or $50. I think a good group of guys, maybe 5 - 10, with a simple pay out would be a blast. I know a few people interested in participating -- just wanted to see what kind of response I could generate here.
Reply if interested and maybe we can make this thing happen!
Fish on!!

Re: Fort Worth area kayak tourney?!?
Hey guys -- thanks for responding & sorry it took me so long to get back on TKF!! I know at least 4 or 5 kayakers that will participate in a small tourney. I've fished a couple and it's really no different than any other tourney, except you need a smart phone or camera, a proper measurement stick, and that's about it.
It's call CPR -- CATCH, PICTURE, & RELEASE. Also, there's several places we could fish: Mineral Wells State Park is a great lil lake and is too low for boats to launch, and then there's Lake Worth, Eagle Mountain, Ray Roberts, etc. I'll be more diligent in checking back and will inquire with the guys I regularly fish with as well.
I think it could be a lot of fun and with $10 or $20 a piece we could do maybe a 50/50 pot with most length and biggest fish! Whatever...
Thanks.

Re: Fort Worth area kayak tourney?!?
The tournament scene is larger than you think up here. Just be mindful that there are two statewide kayak trails that will hold a couple of events in North Texas this year, so picking weekends not to conflict with them would be ideal.

I'm in west Ft Worth too, and would love to have a close tournament to go to. Any word on whether this is really shaping up?
Re: Fort Worth area kayak tourney?!?
there's a tournament at mineral wells on May 2nd sponsored by Mariner Sails. Probably be a pretty good turnout. I think it's 30 with a 10 dollar big bass option.

I'd be interested in the Fort Worth area tournament. I'd love to make the working man's tournaments but they are just too far from Burleson on week nights when you get off work at 5.
