Setting up for Bass Fishing
Setting up for Bass Fishing
Howdy everybody. I'm going to Lake Houston this weekend and I was wondering what everyone would recommend for lure basics (types, manufacturers, colors). Thanks in advance. Tight lines.

Re: Setting up for Bass Fishing
20mph - 25mph predicted winds at a low of 43F. Might want to bring a coat and be careful if on the south side of the lake. It could get rough.
I haven't fished Lake Houston on a kayak except up into Luces Bayou. Rattletraps were working for me in late spring. I don't know about anything else.

Thanks CityFisher! I cancelled today because of the winds and it would have been my first time out. Thanks for the advice on the rattletraps. Tight lines.
Re: Setting up for Bass Fishing
I like fishing a shaky head jig head with a 5 or 6 inch senko watermelon with red flake. Fished slow dragging on bottom. Where I fish I target rocks in 10 to 15ft of water. I feel a fish finder helps a lot for bass.

Thanks GetBent. A fish finder is on my "to do" list for Winter as well as other things. Happy Thanksgiving!

For me on Falcon Lake and Lake Amistad I successfully use the same paddle tails and curly tails I use for saltwater around here in Rockport.
