Skunked twice at Decker Lake. Help?

Post by Beef »

I have fished Decker twice in the last 3 weeks, for a total of 17 hours, without a single fish. I started both days on the water by 5am. I started throwing a Pad Crasher up in the reeds on the dam side of the lake, and worked my way toward the inlet and back to the boat ramp. I threw crank baits in the deeper water and around the edges of the grass, and worked the bank with wacky and Texas Rig worms until I was blue in the face. Any ideas?

I have not fished Decker in 20+ years and it was always slow for me too. Best spot I have found back then was closer to the hot water disharge. Did better in what was then known as, Town Lake, launch at I 35 bridge.Good luck,Mike

there better lakes around austin then decker. georgetown and decker lakes are pretty hard to fish. town lake and bastrop are great for kayaking.

It makes me feel better about not catching anything. It really makes a man question his hobby when he's that unsuccessful, if you know what I mean.

Decker is fishing very tough right now. It really shines in the dead of winter.
