River Dawg Roundup!!!

Post by Hirsch »

Ok folks, we have let the dawgs get fat and lazy the last few years and it's time to wake them up!!!

Saturday and Sunday September 24th and 25th from FM 969 to Fisherman's Park in Bastrop. I will plan for everyone there at 9:00 and then shuttle vehicles to the park with a shuttle back for a few dollars each. I will ask for commitments next week for shuttle numbers about Wednesday or Thursday.

Hirsch - I'm just going by google maps - when you say fm 969 are you talking about where the rv park is? How much river would you be covering total?

thanks -

Yes that is the start point. The total run is about 13 miles. About 8 miles to the Big Island (shown as Scout Island on some maps) and a 5 mile paddle coming out the second day.

I think I'm going to camp at Bastrop State Park the night before. I'm not sure if I will have company, or not. Anyone else is welcome to join me.

Man. I haven't got my yak on the water at all in over a year, maybe two. Sure wish I could make this one, but I'm swamped at work right now.
Y'all have fun and take lots of pictures! Maybe I'll get laid off from work and suddenly have the time to go

River flow at Bastrop is currently 810 cf/s. It should be good.

I made a reservation for Friday night, check in after 2 p.m., at
Bastrop State Park. Water only tent sites are all that was available.
The section is called Deer Run.

I will call and start arranging the shuttle tomorrow. Right now I am planning on half a dozen people, but there will be room to adjust. Let me ask everyone planning on going to post up in the next day or two.

I have DNR, beekeeper, RiverRover x2, and myself as committed. As possibles I have Cruisinsexy, Eric Todd, Firefly and Chief Brody. Please post up if you wish to join or now know you will be in. We will need someone to guard canoes and equipment at the bridge while the vehicles are being shuttled.

Thanks

Sorry Paul, forgot to tell you I changed my name on here a while back. cruisin = Eric! I had to sell my Coosa HD so now i'm just cruisin in my wife's yak  I'm just glad it's not pink and purple! Still trying to decide on whether or not to gamble with the weather.

The Colorado River flow rate at Bastrop is 750 cf/s. The forecast is showing milder temps. Maybe a spot shower. Should be fine.

Shuttle has been arranged. It will be $40 split by the number of vehicles plus a tip for the driver.

Good! If the weather blows in a little rough, we'll burrow into something.
Pretend we're noodling, diggin' to China, or something.
