Upper Brazos Trip Report

Post by beekeeper »

Just returned from the Brazos River w/BOPGunner and another friend. Did two night/three days. Great trip. The temps were high but the water was tolerable. Beautiful scenery due to recent rain. We did the run from Hwy 16 bridge to Rochelles, about 20 miles. I will post pics soon.

Looks like a great trip. Wish I could have made it.

How was the water flow and paddling this run?

The flow and paddling were comparable to our Nov, 2013, trip, maybe a little better. We did a little dragging. I'm ready to go back as soon as it cools a bit. Gary will submit more pics, my phone battery went dead.

Wow, I wish I could have gone! It would have been a great time to be with you, Gary and Ron (who I have not seen in over 15-20 years!). I'm still looking forward to the next river run! Did you take your commander or your ride 135?

We're getting ready for another overnighter (or 2 nighter) in the near future. Ron just bought a Ride 135 yesterday, so he's hooked. Ron and Gary were standing up in the Commander. i'm the only one who didn't, but it seems to be very good.

I hope with my other project that I can get time for a trip this fall. The Upper Brazos is calling my name, but the Colorado would work too.

Looks like it was a great trip! I'm envious ......but it's on my to-do list!! All I've done this summer is the Colorado or local areas....sigh. But (!!!!) added 2 more yak's to my fleet so I now have more choices, lol!! WS Tarpon 140 and a little 8' Sun Dolphin for my almost 6 yr old grandson.

If you can't do the Upper Braozos right now maybe you could in late Oct. or early Nov. The color change with fall makes it particularly nice.

I just noticed the flow rate out of Possum Kingdom is now up to 125 cf/s. That should be considerably better.
