2-3 night trip
2-3 night trip
Anyone have a good 2-3 night kayak/camping/fishing trip close to Houston ?
Thank you
Thank you
Re: 2-3 night trip
Are you asking proposed routes or if a trip is being organized?
Re: 2-3 night trip
Check out Village Creek. Easy to tailor the trip due to the highways that cross it. Also may want to check out Village Creek Paddling Trail (TPWD) & East Texas Canoes.
Re: 2-3 night trip
Just seeing what there is close to Houston. I am getting into kayaking but want to also be able to make some camping trips.
Thanks for the help.

Guess I should also say I am new to Texas and Houston. Moved here from Michigan about a year ago. Learning a lot about the area. I am used to a lot of fresh water fishing and lakes.

Take a look at the Colorado river between Austin and Columbus and there are a number of possibilities.

Village Creek and the Colorado are both great options. Other possibilities that are not too far off are the Neches and the Sabine.

Another vote for village creek. Did 3 days on the creek about a month ago.

If you are accustomed to the weather in Michigan, I would suggest planning your Texas camping in the cooler months of October to April. Unlike Michigan, Texas can have some great camping weather days in January and all throughout winter. I am amazed by folks that go tent camping in Texas in August.kylen315 wrote:Guess I should also say I am new to Texas and Houston. Moved here from Michigan about a year ago. Close to Houston...... you can always go up & stay at Huntsville State Park & paddle/fish Lake Raven. Or..... camp at Harmon Creek Marina east of Hunstville. Lots of choices to paddle/fish there -- can even paddle through the slough to the Trinity River. Or camp up at Stubblefield Lake on the north end of Lake Conroe in the Sam Houston Nat'l Forest... Martin Dies State Park @ Lake Steinhagen is a couple hours drive towards Jasper and has a pretty campground
