Caddo Lake Photos

Post by Firefly49 »

Two weeks ago I spent Fri thru Mon up at Caddo Lake at the state park which has gotten to be one of my favorite's despite some thunderstorms that came through and left some of the campsite's a bit muddy. I was lucky and had a higher, drier site. Thought I'd share some of the photos, most of which were taken while on the Go Devil tour which I did again this year. This is a MUST DO if you ever go.... Billy Carter's Go Devil Tours @ Johnson's Ranch Marina. $25 bucks an hour, well worth it, and if you're lucky you'll get Roland as your tour guide!! Last year a few of us drove over to nearby historic Jefferson, TX and messed around one afternoon -- good idea if you take your wife/girlfriend, lol.

Firefly,

Great pics! This place is on my summer bucket list.

Did you canoe or kayak at all? If so, what trails?

Thanks.

Nice!! I was born and raised in Shreveport, LA until we moved to Houston when I was 16. Those Cypress trees and moss bring back a lot of memories! One of my other favorite lakes my dad took me fishing on also was Wallace Lake. That lake from what I remember was almost swamp like. I always thought that was cool. :D

Thanks, glad ya'll enjoyed the photos. Bassbug.......the weekend didn't quite go as well as it could have because of the weather. Despite the plans to do so, there was no kayak fishing although I did throw a line from the pier for a few minutes as the sun went down on Friday night..... the only excitement then was watching a little gar as he swam around below. There were quite a few in the group and when the weather cleared so were able to go paddling on Saturday afternoon.... but several were newbie's renting canoe's & having kid's with them; with the high water and reports of strong currents most kept to the Mill Pond area of the park and then into Big Cypress Bayou a ways. A few of us ventured further up the bayou but not far enough to explore Carter's Cut like we did last year.

Would like to join in with another group that heads up there again!
