open invite going back to caddo lake

Post by BOPGUNNER »

The Beekeeper and myself are going camping and hopefully some kayaking at Caddo Lake staying at the state park. Starting on Mon. March 16th thur Thursday the 19th. We reserve one of the shelters. Weather could go either way so playing it safe. This is the week after spring break, so crowds should be gone. The only GOD made lake in TEXAS . CADDO LAKE STATE PARK is at 245 Park Road 2 Karnack,Texas 75661. Or I could be. "Uncertain " haha. As alway River Dogs and all other open invitation .

Jeez........I am SO ready for the water......and love Caddo! Probably won't get back from Red River, NM until the 15th......not sure yet, but it'd be a fast turnaround, lol.

Any more info on this??? Hirsh, are you going? Gosh, I'd sure like to go again this year!!! I love Caddo and it was a great trip last year. Depending on weather, wouldn't mind running over to Wright Patman for a day or two afterwards..... looked interesting on the drive back from AR last Fall. My major problem is not knowing WHEN my daughter, grandson and I get back from our roadtrip to Red River, NM. No problem if we get back Fri-Sat.....but if it runs into Sun / or driving back straight thru....I'm not sure I can do that fast a turn-around even if my gear's ready to go........sigh.

They told me our shelter site will accommodate two additional tents, but only two total vehicles. Come if you can.

FYI, A&M and UT are on Spring Break that week, so there could be crowds. I'll be there the 18-21. If you see a teardrop camper and green pirogue, that's me.

Caddo is not an easy lake to fish for Bass. Sunfish is much easier.

I talked with the park ranger today, river has not yet crested. With rain coming later in week. So Beekeeper and I are heading west to Big Bend area. Maybe later in the year. :?:

With a guide like Beekeeper, you can't go wrong. We still had to deal with the rain ,and a spring break crowd. But for someone who grew up in the DFW area. To see though mountain and west Texas sky day and at night. Unbelievable beautiful. Will be going back. And a BIG Thank you to The Beekeeper, you are the man.

And a six pack to go. Everyone thinks west texas is a big flat wasteland. Not so. Many big mountains, with pine trees. The Fort Davis area is the easiest access via I-10, and is nearly as spectacular as Big Bend. Will see you next month on the Colorado.
