Memorial Day 2/3 Day Float- May 25-27

Post by Hirsch »

This year I am planning an open invite over the same course as last years from FM 969 to Bastrop Fisherman's Park. Normally an overnight float I plan on stopping to camp on the big island that we normally stay. Sunday those who have obligations that require departing on Sunday may do so and be home that afternoon. Those of us who have Monday off can loaf around the island swimming, fishing or otherwise whiling the day away. Last year Firefly, MILRET and I hung around and spent an enjoyable day before floating out on Monday.

Hope to see a good number this year.

Definitely recommend everyone bring a tarp and some poles for shade. Can get a little warm in the sun.

i can't wait for this one! my wife and I are planning on being there! This will only be my 2nd time on this stretch with the first time the water was very stained and the fishing was tough on everybody, hopefully the water will be in better shape this time because it's the fishiest looking stretch i've ever been on!

All I know is that this go around I am bringing some real FOOD. Steak, Pork Chop, Potats. Bringing a grill rack to put over fire or charcoal. Left overs will be auctioned.

I'm in! I think I might bring my 14 yr old grandson and maybe his friend along. He's paddled and fished the Buffalo River (plus he wilderness hikes) with his Dad so he's got some experience...plus, he's a pretty darn good kid!

I'm finally going to get a chance to go camping with my 21-year-old daughter during the week before, but hopefully will be able to get the camping gear cleaned up and re-packed for this outing, it has been awhile since I've been able to join y'all on any camping trips. Hope I can remember how to get down there.

We are going to have Dawgs and Rats at same camp site for those who don't know it was the Brazo River Rat Pack and Colorado River Dogs...I just got a call from my brother .. we have a family get together every year on the 4th and they are going to move it up the memorial day weekend cus my sisters said July is to hot for them now..sissy's....I told them I was committed and will catch them Thanksgiving... Plus June I'll turn 65 so this trip is going to be my present to myself.... Think I'll just do the one night I need a day to recoup...wish Harold Ray could make it

 It will be great to see y'all again. And so far it looks like no burn ban, right?

Hope I am fit enough to get everything loaded and be able to paddle. I'm feeling old, I'm 53 today! And I'm still the youngest of this group, right?
