Re: Spring Break on the Neches
This trip looked like so much fun. Ive never been on a extended camp like this. I would love to try it out sometime.
Re: Spring Break on the Neches
Thanks for sharing, Hirsh. Oh, for the good ol' days (when we didn't need aliev).
Re: Spring Break on the Neches
KK, I take 800 mg of ibuprofen 3 times a day to make these trips and have finsihed where I could not stand straight. But given an option I would have kept going 5 more days.
DNR and I started these in 2010 and have done so each year since. That year it was the two of us, the next 3 and the last two 6 members. This is the first year he missed, I expect to announce another for Spring Break 2014 about January. So far we have done a different stretch of water every year.

Yep, good ole Ibu 800. If it was not for that I would be sneaking up on someones stern with my bow line.

Re: Spring Break on the Neches
Nice report! Where did ya'll end up taking out at? By the looks of it, it was the "county park". We did the same trip in june of 2009 and i do not recommend it in the heat!!! Water was low, the air temp was 95+ during the day and 85 or so at night and the water temp was over 85 degrees meaning HOT! We went from sheffields ferry to hwy 96 but in only 3 days 2 nights as everyone was miserable due to the heat and no way to cool off!!! Had planned to spend 3 nights and 4 days.
Re: Spring Break on the Neches
We left from Sheffield and took out at the county park so yes your eye is good. We were originally heading to 96. But then we decided to loaf a day on the last sand bar instead of going on. Our outfitter was very accommodating to changes and all it took was a cell phone call. Although it was a longer drive he charged no extra so we made up for it a bit in a tip.FishingSETX wrote:Nice report! Where did ya'll end up taking out at? Re: Spring Break on the Neches
Yea ive had great luck with both pineywoods and eastex. I grew up fishing the neches around the county park area. Before it was a park, we used to go mudding down there alot. Had some really good times! One day we ought to plan a trip from hwy 418 to lake view on village creek! Its a 2-3 night trip depending on pace.
