Aluminum Pirouge

Post by jhunter77 »

Has anyone ever built or had one? I have been looking for one to buy but cant find anyone that sells them or even a used one but I have seen them. I appreciate all types of boats but for this application I don't want to let the sun get the plastic or a fiberglass boat and wood is just too pretty for the abuse this boat would need to take.

Does anyone have any advice? Thinking a simple single sheet 4x10 .080 and tig it up? Also want to have a very open floor plan. Sit on a small raised support to keep the backside dry and a single support up front to serve as foot pegs. Hope to be somewhere close to 40lbs when I am done.

Search for 17 lb. kayak in the topic line. If that's what you're looking for then search for Herb Cottle to learn more.

I have seen that kayak and was very impressed. he really came up with a good one. I am honestly looking more for something a little more durable and that I can leave in the sun.
