Is that ebony layered with something else? Absolutely beautiful work.

Thanks guys.
I am pretty bad about thinking out of the box or just throwing it away . These handles were made with different colors of cloth with some twist and wiggles thrown in coated with poly resin .

The more you build the more the finish seems to improve Ron. Nice.

Those are pretty Ron!
I've thought about trying to make some of my own resin knife scales, but haven't got around to it yet.
Have you used them to butcher any game yet, and if so, how did they work? Have you got into forging your own blades yet, or are these from old file or saw blades?

Sorry about the slow answer.
Thanks Hirsch ,I am having a ball playing with new stuff on these knives.
Rod
I havent dressed any wild game ,but I use it every day . I carry one on my belt and use it for what ever I need to do . So far they have held up well.
I have done some hammering out a taper on the file and thinning it before I started shaping and then tempering .
Here is a forged file knife ( not a very good pic)
Ive used large old saw blades, files, a concrete saw blade, cross cut saw blade, 1095 and 1080 knife steel.
They all work when tempered and heat treated correctly.
