I've finished stripping the hull and moving slowly down the sides. Just a few pics to catch up.
Setting the forms with a small angle to slightly rond the corners and adding the first strip to contain the hull strips. The "C" clamps are scarffed joints drying.
The stern and bow have 12" planks and the bow has a hardwood strip mounted at the same level as the bottom cedar strips.
I'm actually further than this shows but wanted to catch up.

Following closely. Looking great.
Hey Don, we are hitting 70's down here this week. Why don't you take a break from the project and meet me down at stingaree? I got canned on Friday so by tomorrow I'll be done calling my contact list and applying for jobs and will just be letting things churn a little. I plan to get the foam boats wet since I've got some forced free time

Got the rough sanding done on the bottom. Now I need to move to the sides.
Bought me a new toy. 14 inch bandsaw. I want to do some inlays on these decks because Mrs. Preacher wants this one.
Went to Rockler and found some Ebony to help in the inlays.
Just had to try the saw out ( it took me 5 hours to put it together) and see what she can do. I got bad blade drift when I tried to strip a 4X4 but it did great with the Ebony 2"X2"X24"(which is very hard).
These strips are 1/4" X 1/8" and no problem.

Looking good! I like the band saw. How much did that piece of ebony set you back?

Sorry about not posting much. I'm having issues recovering from this stroke with some severe knee pain and weakness.
I've got a lot of non-exciting sanding to do before I get to the interesting stuff worth pictures. My deck hatches will be novel this time. No bungee cords. Maybe no rubrail on this boat. I know Gerald always preaches that it's a fishing boat and not a coffee table but this is Mama's and I want it pretty. I like Ron's and some of the other seat ideas in that they are adjustable so I am looking at some of Rockler's rails and stuff. So, while the ice bags and meds are working I am working with paper and pencil drafting ideas. Should be doing some work this weekend Lord willing.
Started to do a centerfold photo of me but thought Gerald may block it

Whew! 1 side and the bottom are sanded. At least it looks something like a boat now.
Also tried my hand at creating spacers for the inside rail. Saw somebody do this here on the forum.
Whoever it was had a drill press or a much more steady hand than I cuz mine were terrible and a waste of wood.
I'm also starting on the inlay fabrication.
Already cut the Ebony strips and Poplar strips to size and glueing them together.
Made my jig and cutting the small pieces which I will glue together.

Spent the past 2 days repairing a problem. The stern radius is so radical that the sidewall snapped open and split the last strip for about 2 feet, but everything went back well and I was able to get a fill coat of resin on tonight.
