When mating the deck to the hull is fiberglass tape really necessary? Basically I have 33 foot long goopie joint that is massively strong on it's own. I have tape and will tape it in the morning but I am just curious for future builds.

Re: I have a question
If you are mating the deck to the hull with the internal mating/gluing strip like I use then you probably don't have to tape the outside joint. The inside joint is already covered so you're good there. However I do tape the exterior joint even with my method of the internal mating/gluing strip. My type of joining method is quite strong, simple, and easy to use. This method is also similar to the CLC sheer clamp method.
If you are only mating the deck and hull with no internal gluing strip--only the edges of the strips--then I'd say that you need to tape the joint inside, as much as possible, and completely on the outside.

I am using the internal strip, but I think I will continue to tape the seam just for the insurance.
