Great picture. Absolutely no reason not to have retractable outriggers if you have a need or desire for them. The pictured design looks like a good one. I saw another very nice one built by Skip Johnson. A guy from Austin has made preliminary contact with me about building one. I may build one even if that particular boat doesn't get built. Just another one of those projects I'll never run out of. I'm gonna kick the bucket a happy man...I'm telling you! And the old plastic Tri-balance kayak was similar, removable but not retractable.

I wonder how practical those retractable outriggers would be on an Outer Island sea kayak? :wink:
