Gerald's shop looks familiar... where have I seen that dog before? :D

The only reason I installed that piece was to give it a more finished look.

Ah yes...on that type of boat--one of the Brazos River Fishing Boat styles--I do that to finish the cockpit. You need it on the sides to make strong gunwales and it makes the ends appear to blend in to the whole boat thing. There are a variety of methods you can use but that's certainly one good way.

I'm not sure if I have any pictures. I'll have to look. When I started building boats we were still using the little square browny camera. No such thing as a digital camera. I also never imagine that I would need pictures of all the stuff I did in the past.

.....of course, there's some stuff I did in the past that you don't even want to imagine....much less have a picture.....

....I wonder if there is a statute of limitations for.....naawwwwww......

...oh anyway. What I meant to say is that you can trim the cockpit in almost any way that you want as long as it is pleasing to the eye, is strong enough, and doesn't detract from the boat.

Hey Man! We are innovaters. Let's innovate, manipulate, articulate, and perambulate....
