Get the Wood Out!!!
If you get a splinter, rub some garlic on it -- the splinter will almost jump out for you! In the old days, carpenters used to always carry garlic in their pouches for this reason.
Found this on the net I know there are some on this forum that can use this right about NOW

It will also work if you're constipated.

I've never heard of this before. I'm wondering if this is an old wive's tale.

Re: Get the Wood Out!!!
After reading this post I did some fairly exhaustive googlesearch. Interesting what people come up with. I remember when I was a kid if an ant bit us (big black or red ones) we would cut an onion and hold that against the ant bite. That did help. There are a lot of remedies that get bandied about. I don't know if this one will work or not. Heck...if you let it fester it will come out by itelf anyway.
Since I'm an old carpenter I'll probably stick with my tried and true sheetrock knife....
Little chips of glass are the most difficult to get out...

Re: Get the Wood Out!!!
It seems like i read a long time ago that garlic opens your skin pores and allows you to sweat more ..... if this is true then it stands to reason that if it opens your skin pores that a splinter whether wood or steel or glass would have an easier time being rejected. Don't know if any of it is true but I bet that I will try it next time.

Could be, but then Willow bark was nothing but an old wive's tale once upon a time. Some of those old wive's know what they're talking about (but really, I have no idea about the garlic and splinters thing).

Sounds like you guys have run into an old wife or two. (wow, there's probably a Halloween joke or two right there, but I'm not brave enough to go for it).
