I'll be in Dallas this weekend, and possibly McKinney. Will you be home? I'd love to stop by and see the boat if you'll be around.

Got the exterior Glassed this weekend and pulled it from the forms. Colors turned out really nice. Its going to be light. What a mess on the inside. Have alot of work to do on the inside. Going to try getting the inside glassed next weekend. Will post some pics soon. Any suggestions on good scrapers out there, and where to get them.

what a mess. Fiberglassed the interior last night , got into a problem I couldnt get out. The glass on the bottom went down real well. The trumbllehome was really tough on the one side, and got to the other side couldnt make the glass lay inverted. finished out the rest of the boat, came back to problem area and still couldnt lay it down. shamefully I rolled the four foot area up and left it. Cut it our this morning, may not be too bad, Got alot of sanding to do, and reglass that area. going to lay it on its side this time. By the way the 60grit and finger plane cleaned up the inside pretty well. Harbour Freight sandpaper was horrible. went back to 3M. Like boat building not fiberglassing.

I feel your pain. Gravity aint on your side. It should work better rolled over a bit.

That HF sandpaper is the worst. I buy 100 pack 80 grit Mirka at the auto body and paint supply for around $40 (6" psa).

Last boat I put thwarts in I just expoxy/goopied them in place, never had an issue, one is used as backrest the other as footrest plus manhandling the boat, no problem.Screws will just be insurance.

Well she turned out to be sea worthy. I couldnt be happier with her performance. Took the family out to the 380 greenbelt Sunday and got her wet. Tracking stability and speed were very good. Was able to set the seat pretty high up which is more comfortable in a long race. Thank you for everyones help on this build. going to do a weigh in tonight.

Going to try and make the December Solo race on the San Marcos River, 12 miles. Then a 64 mile race sometime in January if family obligations dont impede.

Right on, I should try that SMS. I am no racer but 16 miles on my own turf shouldn't kill me, in December anyway. :D
My only experience is the Neches Race. The portages on the upper SM would be a challenge.

Good luck to ya, SYOTR.

weighed her this weekend, ended up 40lbs dressed out. Could have saved a few pounds if I had stayed away from the mahogany decks and thwarts, but it is just such good looking wood. Training will start next weekend.
