Pretty cool! I was doing a little research the other day and ran across the following link. I would never have thought to build one myself. Keep us posted on how it turns out!

This is a first. I can't think of anyone building a wooden rudder on TKF. A great imitation of a polymer rudder.

im just trying to figure out how much epoxy i need.....maybe a quart will do???
Re: Rudder Build
There was a guy who made a pretty nice looking carbon fiber rudder for his SOT about two years ago, if I remember correctly. I can allllllllmost remember his handle, darn it! Also, I made a wooden one that came out very nice, if I do say so myself. It's on a Pygmy Osprey HP that Lollipop now owns, and is still going strong as far as I know. Sorry, can't find any pics at the moment....Night Wing wrote:This is a first. I can't think of anyone building a wooden rudder on TKF. A great imitation of a polymer rudder.
I found making a rudder to be a lot of fun and good basic woodworking project .... very doable for some of the builders on this board.
4x4, very cool, looking forward to seeing your progress. Hard to say how much epoxy will do ya, but a quart sounds reasonable to me.
