Hi Guys, Cant remember if I posted before, but here is my first boat build.. 13' X 24" used "kayakFoundry" to design it, and have been hard at building it here the last two weeks.. Ordered the glass for it today, using Raka epoxy.. Building mainly for fun, fishing, and getting into Kayaking.

Great looking boat!

Would you share additional picts/info? Did you design? Const. strip or S&G? What kind of wood?
@ 21" did you need the amas or just for secondary stability in rough conditions?
Have been toying with designs for a boat for my wife and me for overnighters.
Amas placed at the stern have been thought of for the secondary stability with out sacraficing paddling efficency.

I co-designed the boat with Skip Johnson who built the boat. Skip has designed several boats for the Texas Water Safari.
I wanted something light and tough and TWS boats are certainly that.
I had been paddling a stripper prior to this boat /also with amas.
This boat is all composite / foam sandwich construction.
Zylon for hull (a kevlar derivative) and carbon for decks.
The hull keel is painted with epoxy-carbon "paint" and is tough as nails.
The outrigger system allows me to sit high (11" above keel) and to also stand and pole without sacrificing hull efficiency.
I can also sit low (3") when going into strong head wind. The boat paddles fine without amas.
The outriggers fold to the rear and side for transport in a boat or on a car.

I could spend hours admiring all the eye candy. There's a lot of beautiful boats here.

This is mine. I designed it from the ground up. Learned strip planking through the "school of hard knots".

3 months on this 12+ hr days... 7 days/ week. non-stop. Alaskan Yellow cedar, teak rails, Redwood inlay.

What kind of drive system is that? Looks interesting.

Sorry for the delay, That was one of those Torqeedo ultralight motors I added after removing the original paddle wheel ( pedal drive ) that I'd designed the boat for.

Didn't much like the fit, my legs were too close. cable drive didn't quite work the way I thought it would, and it was sort of noisy. Not slow, but not as fast as I'd hoped either. Good news is I designed a really nice kayak hull that is incredibly stable. Would love to build another strip plank boat again. Great satisfaction and relaxation building a boat. Learned a lot about working with carbon fiber also.

Cheers.
