Thank you.

No, this boat is all redwood. The white is the sapwood and dark is the heartwood. My second boat I have started is redwood on the hull and on the deck I have gone with cedar. I was able to find some great colors of cedar and had some ideas for designs on the deck.

I have really enjoyed all of these pictures, the discussion, thoughts and explanations. You all are special people who do beautiful woodwork; not everyone can accomplish that.

Thanks for posting great images of what you are doing!

That is a beautiful boat, spare and sleek! You say its Gerald's design; did he build it or did you? Whoever did did a wonderful job it appears to me.

Hey everyone. I just got in to kayaking about a month ago. I've never thought about making my own. You guys are some kind of awesome craftsman. This is art!!! Great thread. I'm really enjoying this.

Shaun,
Glad to see you on TKF. Building a boat is not hard it is just time consuming. A lot of guys get into boat building because they want features unavailable in plastic boats. Other just think they look cool. If you decide to build one just jump in with both feet and get after it. There are a lot of people on this forum who are more than happy to help out any way possible.

8) Speaking of building boats, Darrel, did you ever finish Hannah's boat, and I just missed the post?

That really is a sharp looking boat! I am sorry I could not hang around at the Bash and study it a little more. Since you are in Spring, maybe we can get together and soak some bait at some point.

RBR, what are the chances you can bring that baby to the Mess-A-Bash one week from now? You ought to, I'm pretty darn sure you'd be a hit.....

It's admittedly not exactly my style and all, but after studying your post I get more impressed by the minute, actually. Now I wonder what are you gonna do for anchors, if anything?

Very cool, and congrats on the launching! :D

Sorry I work weekends.

I rarely anchor but I have a line from the nose back if I wanted to use it or I can side anchor off of the numerous holes in the rail (gunwale).

My favorite kind of fishing is kayak trolling. This machine is perfect for it. But it will work just fine in rivers too. Very shallow draft.

And I was just recently bemoaning the fact that there are no craftsmen left in this country. Great looking bunch of boats, my faith is restored! I may have to get my woodworking stuff out of the storage place.
