Waxing is unnecessary. UV-inhibiting varnish/polyurethane/automotive clearcoat protects epoxy . . . and itself. Those who are going for exhibition-grade fine finishes buff with compound.

Yeah...I agree. Waxing is unnecessary. You're gonna need to do a refinish every year anyway. Wax would get in the way of that. I never varnished my active marathon boats either since it's easier to repair without varnish on it. Yes--UV will degrade epoxy but when you are refinishing them at least once a month, usually more, you don't have much of a problem. My old marathon boat is 5 or 6 years old and has never had varnish on it. I'll be bringing that boat to the Roundup--and it STILL doesn't have varnish on it. I'll varnish it in a couple of weeks or months...
