HI - Wed- with pics
Met Fuzzy, Smellyhands and Forever Fishing at High Island, between the piers. This is the surf that greeted us.
We loaded the yaks and paddled out about 2-250 yds (I got swamped 3 times on the way out and thank goodness had my glasses stowed away). We started fishing and in about 15 minutes I had a hook up but my knot at the leader either broke or came undone......drats.
Very soon I had another hookup and landed this bull red!
And another!
And another!
And another!
And it went on for the four hours we fished........I caught 8 fish and lost 4 due to my power pro breaking or coming undone at the leader. I will be putting my mono top on my reels tomorrow.
The wind was crazy, all the way to Roll Over, it was out of the North, then at Roll Over, it was out of the East. While fishing it was out of the east. On the way home, once West of Roll Over, it was out of the North, again.
There were some big swells but they were widely spaced so it wasn't too rough, a cake walk after experiencing TOBA.
Everyone caught fish and I am hoping they will post up.......Fuzzy is no longer a BTB Cherry.......he caught 4 bulls and one shark.......and flipped on re-entering the surf.........he very quickly experienced a variety of BTB experiences.
We had a good time and I will be back for the weekend.

DWB I would put the mono top on, it has been a life saver for me.
I got three videos today but I really need to do some editing and I need to improve some.
BTW, Fuzzy handled all his adversity today like a pro.........4 bull reds and a 4.5 blacktip.......I was proud of him........add another BTB fisherman to the clan!!!

It was good to fish with everyone. Mythman is a great fishing partner. I had a shorter trip than anticipated. Caught one monster. Only one, but being as big as those fish are, it was plenty. The girlfriend came out to HI and I went to meet her so she woudln't get lost. I planned on coming back to continue the action but the surf had other plans. I did my first turtle ever and it was a doozy. I've never had trouble before with landing in the surf, no matter how bad. I think I was getting too confident and mother nature decided to re-establish her dominance. Flipped hard. Luckily I packed light. Lost my crimpers, leader material and tackle and knife. Saved my rod. I decided to call it a day. Sorry I didn't get a chance to say good bye to everyone.
