Smellyhands and anyone else, I think I am going to try to make HI tomorrow.
I have looked at every weather site I have on my computer and the TV weather........there is going to be a North wind early but my experience is that the North wind doesn't effect the HI fishing as much as NE, E, SE, S or SW wind.
The land protects about 300 yards out from the beach and lately I been catching fish 150 yards out.
I am not going to get in a hurry as the winds subsides all during the day.
I am packing my stuff and looking at the conditions in the am.
I might not arrive until mid-morning or later.
Any one still wanting to go???

MM, I'm there. Sounds perfect, actually. I'm going to fish the bay EARLY and make the switch to BTB when you get there. If you come up with a rough estimate on your time you can post it here. Or you can call me. I'll pm you my phone number. Now I'm definitely going to stingaree or bolivar so if anyone wants to meet at the crack o' dawn, let me know. MM, I look forward to meeting you and catching some monsters. I know people have asked this a million times before, but where can I buy bait coming from the galveston direction? I'm bringing the cast net, but want to have a back up. Do they sell mullet at stingaree?

Coming from Galveston ( the way I come) I always buy bait at Joe's Crabs and bait.
About 1/4 mile past the ferry dock, turn left on 108 and go to Nelson street, there is a big sign you can't miss it and go to the back door of the house. They usually don't open until 6:30 but it is still dark then anyway.
They have the freshest and cheapest mullet and they also have live crabs.
Their 1 gal bags of frozen mullet are $4......can't bet the price or quality.
I don't know about stingaree as I have never been there.
However if you miss Joe's, you can usually get frozen mullet at the Roll Over bait shop........just not as fresh and higher.

I plan on being there (between the piers or Rocky's) to meet you MM after I get the kids on the bus. Leave around 8:45 be there to launch around 10:15-10:30. Off the water at 1:30pm, pick the kids up for Karate by 3:45pm. Long day but I'm ready.
Let me know your time frame and if the weather holds.
I'll check the PM or this thread before I leave.
CYA Guys out there!
P.S. MM please pick me up a few chunks of mullet and I'll reimburse you as soon as I get there.
P.S.S. I don't know where Rocky's or the Meachum pier locations care either. DOH!

The Ferry runs 24/7......every hour on the hour until 6:00 am then every thirty minutes until 8:30 pm and then back to every hour on the hour.
We can plan on meeting about half way between Rocky's or Harris (old meacoms) and Dirty pelican piers. Rocky's or Harris pier is the only working pier, should be aprox 1 mile to the west of it. Or 1 mile to the East of the old dirty pelican pier, that is the old ran down pier with the house on it.
Old dirty Pelican is 2.5 miles East of Roll Over pass off of Hwy 87 and Rocky's ( or Meacoms) is 2 miles East of where hwy 87 and Hwy 124 meet. We should meet half way in between the two piers. If the water is bad we may go East of Rocky's or West of old dirty pelican.
I hope to leave about 7 or 8 am and should be there about 8:30 to 9:30.
I have smellyhand's cell. I will be in white expedition pulling a green trailer.
The Forecast now is:
Wednesday
Northeast winds 15 to 20 knots decreasing to around 10 knots in the afternoon. Seas 3 feet. Coastal lakes and bays choppy decreasing to light chop in the afternoon.
Therefore, since the wind is diminishing as the day progresses, I am not going to get in a hurry.
