Port Aransas - Beach launching on 7/9, 7/10 + 11 weather and beach closures permitting

Post by TexasDrew »

I am heading to Port Aransas and beach launching near Access Road 1-A in Port Aransas (about 27°47'42.4"N 97°05'01.6"W ) I'd like to fish out about 3-6 miles (see depth chart picture ) so if anyone has experience or advice on that please let me know, also if any other TKF are interested in joining let me know.

Thanks for the invite. Be careful the surf forecast for the 9th and 10th is calling for 4 to 5 foot swells and 3 to 4's on the 11th. That is a ways out but in the past 2 months the extended forecast has been holding true.

To be clear, the Port A, Corpus and Nueces announcement yesterday would have this launch access point closed to vehicle traffic for this weekend, correct?

Kind of, the beaches are not "closed" however the Access Point will be closed:
June 30 - July 11: Beaches close at 8 PM (Beach Curfew every night from 8 PM to 6 AM )
July 3 - July 7 (ending at 6 AM): No vehicles (including golf carts and ATVs) are permitted on the beach; they suggest you get a friend or taxi to drop you at the access way... Basically the beaches are open but only if you live on the beach or don't mind walking.
All this is from the Port Aransas Chamber of Commerce's Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pachamberofcommerce/ .
Also this info applies to all Nueces County Beaches
Since carrying a kayak down the beach access road is impractical, Kimberly with the Port A. Chamber of Commerce recommended putting in at the Lighthouse Lakes Park at 2090 TX-361, Port Aransas, TX 78373 (coordinates 27°52'05.0"N 97°05'07.0"W ).
I just need a change of scenery, BAD.

Hoping that forecast is wrong; guessing that 4-5 foot swells is a bad thing.

Lol yes sir 4 footers are not good. For me 3 footers are too big. I'm looking for a forecast with 1-2's.
